There are only 2 USB ports on the PS3 slim and this can be very inconvenient especially if one owns a PlayTV device leaving 1 port available. 1 port for recharging controllers or plugging in wireless dongles e.g. for Street Fighter IV controllers is frustrating. This little accessory is the excellent solution; it fits by plugging into the 2 USB ports and clipping to the underside of the console overhang. Now one has double the ports available and adds an SD card slot for easy data transfer; this means I'm now able to plug in the PlayTV, 2x Street Fighter IV controller dongles and charge my Dual Shock 3 all at the same time!

I was getting very annoyed that I couldnt have my hard drive and other peripherals in my ps3 and be able to charge my controllers; with the Nyko media hub I can have my ps eye camera, my playTV and my hard drive plugged in at the same time AND still have a port free to charge any controllers! Plus it comes with a media remote that works great for watching movies (it works like a normal controller so you can use it with PlayTV too you just have to work out what button does what!) I was slightly worried about is updating past Firmware 3.41 on my PS3 as sony blocked some 3rd party usb devices in later firmwares but after researching on the net I can confirm this still works in firmwares above 3.41 :)

I'm impressed by the quality of this product. I've tried a few different usb hubs made for the ps3. Almost all of them find themselves given or thrown away after a month, either because they dont divert the power properly leaving under powered devices which cut out frequently, or fit really badly and fall off constantly. Or wired controllers come loose in mid game. I now use a self powered independant hub for my regular PS3.

I found myself needing extra ports on a second PS3 that doesnt have room for a self powered USB nearby. So thought I'd give this ago.

Its fits perfectly hasnt fallen off once in 2 months, the usb ports are equally a snug fit without being too tight, this is due to using good quality plastics in the product. I cant say for certain but my usage suggests it has a power management chip in it (which others dont) because I've not found one peripheral to be under powered regardless of what I have plugged in or what configuration I've used.
