I'll cut straight to the chase, the item basically doesn't work as a networked media streamer.

The advertising and manufacturer website state UPnP support over your network. This simply doesn't work. I have a Twonky UPnP-AV server running on my network which I use on my PS3's and on my phone all the time. Going into the UPNP menu on this device showed no servers at all. I also have network shares set up on my network and this box detected nothing.

I set up two other temporary UPnP servers, one using my phone, which I sometimes do for viewing photo's on my TV via the PS3 and I set up another UPnP server on my macbook.

This thing simply does not work for UPnP. It's possible that I had a faulty unit, but I honestly just think it's not UPnP compliant.

I did stick some media onto a USB hard drive to see if the thing would work at all. First attempts were particularly bad, sound quality on the first file was appalling and the sound on the... Read more
